Practice Focuses:

There is so much more than weight management. Whether your goal is to gain or lose weight, you will improve your overall health by eating better. Clients often report increased energy levels and improved mood with proper nutrition.

Amy has served as the Clinical Dietitian at Woodstone, Canada’s first publicly funded Residential Centre for Eating Disorders in BC. Her philosophy of practice is to guide, educate and inspire clients to re-build a healthy relationship with food and to support clients in finding balance, moderation, variety and enjoyment in nutrition. Treatment may include nutritional analysis, meal support, breaking the ED cycle, overcoming fear foods, grocery shopping and eating in social environment.

As a certified diabetes educator, Amy has provided over 800 hours of nutrition care to clients suffering with diabetes type 1 and 2. Amy can support her clients in managing the diabetes effectively through education and lifestyle changes, minimizing the need of oral medications and/or insulin and thus, improving the quality of life.

Amy provides support and reassurance for elderly clients - ensuring proper nutrition for the aging body, managing chronic diseases, constipation, dehydration and/or dysphagia (chewing and/or swallowing disorders). Amy believes in using nutrition therapy to enhance the quality of life; Amy offers services for elderly clients in the comfort of their own homes.

As a new first time mom, Amy understands that every mother ultimately wants the best for her child. Prenatal nutrition care ensure that you are providing optimal nutrition for your child right from the beginning. Proper postnatal nutrition can help the body recover from labor & delivery, support breastfeeding and healthy postpartum weight loss goals.

Amy believes in the importance of establishing healthy eating habits from a young age. Introducing solids should be a fun and exciting time for both the parents and the child alike. No more stress, power struggles and behavioral issues at the dinner table. As a proud first time mom, Amy believes in the philosophy of 'baby-led weaning' with some safety modifications and is supporting her son in becoming a competent eater.
What is a Registered Dietitian Vs. a Nutritionist?
Dietitians are regulated health professionals. The title ‘dietitian’ is protected by law, just like physician, nurse and pharmacist.
*Nutritionist is not a protected title – that means anyone can use it.*
What is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)?
A Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)® is a health professional, committed to excellence in diabetes education, who has a sound knowledge base in diabetes care/management and education processes, as well as good communication skills and who has passed the Canadian Diabetes Educator's Certification Board (CDECB) exam.
Health Insurance Coverage
Many extended medical insurance plans cover nutrition counselling by a Registered Dietitian. Check your plan to see what is covered for you. If your plan does not cover the services of a Registered Dietitian, save your receipt for a non-refundable tax credit. In the province of British Columbia, Registered Dietitians are classified as an “Authorized Medical Practitioner”.
